Share your story,
Heal your soul,
Find your happiness.
We like to hear stories, learn from them and connect through them. Everyone has a story.
Regardless of what your story is, you’ve had obstacles to overcome. You’ve experienced hurt and sadness. Maybe you’ve experienced injustice and cruelty. Your story has had ups and downs (maybe one more than the other) and it has lead you to where you are today.
My name is Melissa Jirovec, and I am a full-time caregiver to my husband, who suffered a traumatic brain injury in 2014. I have been there through the long hospitalization, the endless appointments, the surgeries, the therapies, the challenges and the accomplishments. I’ve helped my husband through his recovery, and have been getting acquainted with the new person he has become. No one can prepare you for when a loved one develops an acquired brain injury.
I have juggled the roles of caregiver and wife, and now motherhood as well. My story is one I share often, because I not only find sharing my story therapeutic, but I hope it invites others to share their story as well.
To be honest, I love hearing other people’s stories. I love hearing about their life experiences.
If you’ve got a story to share [and we both know you do] I’d love to hear it. Stories help us strengthen relationships with understanding and empathy. And sharing our story is taking ownership of it. Taking full control.
